If you counted seven, you may have noticed the prominent birds along with some less obvious shapes. The interesting question isn’t what seven supposedly says about your personality, but whether your answer remains seven after carefully scanning the picture again.

And if you immediately counted nine, perhaps you spent slightly more time examining the image, or the smaller details happened to stand out more clearly on your screen. Screen size, brightness, contrast, viewing distance, and even how long you look can influence what you notice.

Try scanning from the upper-left corner and moving slowly across the entire image, identifying each pigeon before counting it. Then compare that total with your original answer.
